Where is She? The Puzzling and Heartbreaking Disappearance of Maura Murray
Monday Sep 16, 2024
Monday Sep 16, 2024
Considered the first true crime mystery of the “social age”, the Maura Murray case still haunts those internet sleuths who poured so much time into the search. On a snowy rural road on February 9, 2004 in New Hampshire Maura Murray wrecked her car into a snowbank. A short time later the police arrived on scene but Maura was gone never to be seen again. This case has spawned numerous theories, ranging from foul play to voluntary disappearance and accidents. Each theory has been debated extensively in both media and online communities. However, Maura’s fate has never been determined.

Often referred to as the "Wonderman”, the Count of St. Germain was an enigmatic 18th-century figure. His exact date of birth and origin is unknown, but he reportedly was multilingual and highly educated in music, philosophy, and politics. The Count found his way into various European royal courts and was rumored to be a key figure in historical events. He was also reputed to be a master alchemist, allegedly defying death to achieve immortality—rumors even some of his contemporaries believed. Though he supposedly died in 1784, stories persisted that he belonged to secret cults and lived on as various other people, with some claiming his existence since the time of Christ. Was he truly immortal, a time traveler, or merely a clever conman?

The legend of the Lost Dutchman's Gold Mine is said to have originated with Jacob Waltz, a German immigrant known as "The Dutchman". The legend says that Waltz discovered a rich vein of gold somewhere in the Superstition Mountains during the 1870s. On his deathbed in 1891, Waltz reportedly revealed the mine's location to Julia Thomas, a neighbor who had cared for him in his final days. Countless treasure hunters have searched for his mine and some have never returned, which according to legend is due to a curse. Where is the Dutchman’s Lost Gold Mine? Is it cursed? Does it only exist in another dimension? Or in a different timeline?

Monday Aug 26, 2024
Monday Aug 26, 2024
The Dancing Plagues were a bizarre phenomenon that swept through Europe during the Middle Ages, where groups of people engaged in frenzied, uncontrollable dancing, often to the point of exhaustion or even death. These outbreaks varied in size, with some involving dozens of participants and some possibly having hundreds. Some theories range from demonic possession and divine punishment to mass hysteria and poisoning. So what really caused these strange events?

Following victory in conquering Egypt in 525 BCE, Cambyses II turned his attention to consolidating control over Egypt and expanding further into Africa. One of his most ambitious plans was an expedition to the Siwa Oasis, located in the Libyan Desert, where the Oracle of Amun was situated. According to famous ancient historian Herodotus, Cambyses sent a massive army of 50,000 men to capture the oasis and subdue the local population, but the army never reached its destination. Over the centuries, various historians and scholars have debated the veracity of his story. Some suggest that the army might have been defeated by hostile forces or that logistical failures led to their demise. Others believe that the desert environment itself—characterized by extreme heat, lack of water, and sudden sandstorms—could have easily overwhelmed the soldiers. However, no concrete evidence has ever been found to support the legend.

How Can I Contact Spirits on Mars? Mystery of the Lead Masks (Episode #48)
Monday Aug 12, 2024
Monday Aug 12, 2024
On August 20, 1966, the bodies of two men were discovered on Vintém Hill, Rio de Janeiro. These men, later identified as Brazilian electronic technicians Manoel Pereira da Cruz and Miguel José Viana, lay side by side, dressed in formal suits with waterproof coats. What made the discovery even more peculiar was that both men were wearing homemade lead eye masks. Nearby, an empty water bottle and two wet towels were found, along with a cryptic notebook containing the message: “16:30 be at the specified location. 18:30 ingest capsules, after the effect protect metals await signal mask.” Despite various theories—including murder, suicide, drug overdose, and even extraterrestrial involvement—the true fate of these men remains a mystery to this day.

The Arabian Bahamut is a mythological creature of immense size and power, rooted in ancient Arabian folklore and later integrated into Islamic mythology. Bahamut is depicted as an enormous fish, supporting a vast structure that represents the Earth's foundation. Some descriptions suggest that if a person were to gaze upon Bahamut, they would see nothing but a boundless expanse of water or sea. In other accounts, Bahamut is so vast that its mere presence is incomprehensible to human beings.

The Kappa is a mythical creature from Japanese folklore, resembling a turtle or frog with a humanoid shape, inhabiting rivers, lakes, and ponds. They have a dish-like indentation on their heads filled with water, which is the source of their power. Kappas are known for being mischievous and sometimes dangerous, at times drowning animals and people or eating human flesh. They are also believed to steal a mythical ball, thought to contain the human soul, from an unusual spot of a victim’s body. They can be defeated by making them spill the water from their heads. Despite their trickery, they respect manners and politeness and can be appeased with their favorite food: a cucumber. So, what is this creature? Something real, a misidentified animal, or just a parable?

Orcadian folklore tells of a great conflict called the War of the Elements, where The Sea Mither engages in a fierce battle with her adversary, Teran, the spirit of winter. When The Sea Mither is defeated, Teran releases the #Nuckelavee. The Nuckelavee, known for its grotesque appearance and malevolent nature, embodies the dangers and fears of the harsh winter season. It spreads disease, destroys crops, and terrorizes the islanders, unchecked by the calming influence of the Sea Mither. The legend says that only The Sea Mither can drive the Nuckelavee back to the depths of the ocean.

The Kraken, a legendary sea monster, looms large in folklore. Often depicted as a colossal octopus or squid, it haunts the seas, striking fear into sailors. Although its origins are frequently misattributed to mythology and lore from other cultures, the Kraken originates from Scandinavian lore, first mentioned in the 12th century. Tales of the Kraken describe it as so massive that its body could be mistaken for an island. Sailors reported seeing large, tentacled limbs rising from the ocean, enveloping ships, and creating maelstroms. Is the Kraken a real creature, perhaps a giant squid or octopus? Or is it merely a symbol embodying the fear of the unknown and the abyssal depths of the ocean? Either way, let’s RELEASE THE KRAKEN!
